Instead of another post about some of my favorite things I’ve watched, listened to, or read recently, I wanted to do an end-of-year ranking of my favorite movies and TV shows of 2023.
If you’re not interested in checking out my fantastic content recommendations but are yearning for something strictly finance-related, here’s a link to the main blog page where you can read past articles.

The Myth of the Broke Millennial by Jean M. Twenge
Before we dive into TV and movies, I did want to highlight a really great finance article I recently read.
I may even do a full post on the data shared in the post, but I also wanted to mention it here briefly.
I think it’s a pretty widely held belief that Millenials (my generation) and younger generations are currently worse off financially than previous generations. There are many reasons for that sentiment which are shared in the post (primarily social media), but Jean analyzes income and wealth data across generations to show why that belief is far from the truth. Millennials aren’t lagging behind previous generations. As a matter of fact, they’re doing just fine.
“By 2019, households headed by Millennials were making considerably more money than those headed by the Silent Generation, Baby Boomers, and Generation X at the same age, after adjusting for inflation.
The coronavirus pandemic didn’t meaningfully change this story: Household incomes of 25-to-44-year-olds were at historic highs in 2021, the most recent year for which data are available.”
Ok, now onto my top-10 lists of my favorite TV shows and movies of 2023. Hopefully, these lists can help give you an idea of some things to watch as you spend time with family over the holidays.
