living with two newborn babies. This week, I’m still trying to adjust to living with no sleep while also navigating a busy work schedule. So, in an effort to save myself some time, I’m doing another post about some of my favorite things I’ve watched, listened to, and read recently.

There are really only two times a year when we change our viewing habits based on the season: Halloween and Christmas. So, here’s a Halloween edition of what I’ve been into:
Stay in the Game by Drew Dickson
Ok I lied, this first one has nothing to do with Halloween. This is an article by Drew Dickson who is the founder of Albert Bridge Capital. However, this piece has nothing to do with money or finance. It’s a personal story about Drew’s son. It was first published a few years ago but I recently reread it and it’s too good not to share. Give it a read, you won’t regret it.
As streaming has become more popular over the past handful of years, streaming services will release a fresh batch of horror/thriller/mystery TV series around Halloween each year. In my opinion, Stranger Things season 1 remains the very best version of this type of series.
Since then, my favorite murder mystery TV-watching experience was with the series Dark. This is a German show on Netflix (yes, there are subtitles; get over it) about a small town where two children go missing. What starts out as a simple search for these kids quickly turns into an intricate, supernatural mystery that spans generations.
There are three seasons. It’s beautiful and smart and a show that I really love.

The Watcher is a new show that came out this October on Netflix. The series is based on a true story about a married couple who moves into their dream home in New Jersey only to be threatened with scary letters from a stalker called “The Watcher.”
Any series based on a true story adds intrigue knowing that it actually happened. This one is a maze of twists and turns that will satisfy your itch for a good, short whodunnit. I wouldn’t say it’s a great series, but it’s entertaining. Perfect for this time of year.

The first season of The Sinner came out in 2017. Since then a new season has been released almost every year and I’ve enjoyed all of them. The fourth and final season was just released this year.
It’s a crime series in which each season Detective Ambrose investigates a new, chilling homicide. There’s nothing necessarily groundbreaking about this series, it’s just a really nicely executed detective story that reels you in and keeps you on your toes. It’s the best of its genre that I’ve seen in recent years.

My wife and I had no idea what we were getting into when we went to the theater to watch this movie; I had just heard good things about it so I forced her to go with me. Over the next hour and 45 minutes, we sat through this crazy, scary, very entertaining rollercoaster ride of a movie.
It’s now available to stream on HBO Max, but as a warning, this movie is not for everyone. I would only recommend watching it if you love horror movies and are looking for the next really good one. The less you know going into this movie the better. I hesitate to even link the trailer.

And if you’re not in the mood for horror or thriller stories, no need to worry because there are countless hours of sports to watch. We have the MLB playoffs, NFL, college football, and the NBA is starting up again. This is the best sports time of the year.
